SYDNEY – After a brief worker uprising during the pandemic where office staff had the luxury of working from home and quiet quitting, those corporate underdog leaders are finally fighting back.
In recent times there’s been thousands of job layoffs across every sector, and trustworthy new technology such as AI has been sweetening the deal for the misunderstood ruling class.
Where R U OK Day was once a day to discuss and acknowledge mental health in the workplace and beyond, even partnering with such wholesome conglomerates as Nestle for R U OK-branded KitKats, things seem to have taken a strange turn.

Darren Erlandsen, CEO of PingusCorp stated that workers have had it too good for too long. “They work from home 2 days a week, so that was justification for suppressing their wages. We’ve also let a bunch of them go and outsourced to call centres in cheaper parts of the world. We get a lot of complaints about the quality of customer service these days but that’s fine because the company stock has never been higher. And now that AI is here to threaten jobs and the environment, workers have never been more scared. So this is the perfect time to introduce FUK U Day as a reminder that we own you and can treat you like dirt and there’s not much you can do about it!”
Workers arrived on Thursday to a FUK U Day-themed cupcake on their desks with a note that says ‘This cupcake will be deducted from your pay. FUK U’.
